Lionel R. Davis CLAREMONT, NH -Lionel R. Davis, 91, of Claremont, passed away on May 18, 2023, after a brief illness. Lionel was born in Claremont, New Hampshire. After being deployed to Korea during the Korean War, and earning the rank of Sergeant, he returned to his hometown where he raised his family. He worked many years in manufacturing until his retirement from Sturm Ruger in Newport, NH. He was a loving father, gifted storyteller, and an avid sports fan. He preferred the simplest pleasures of life over material interests. He loved nature, especially the mountains, music, National Geographic, a good Western movie, and a challenging crossword puzzle. A loyal Dodgers baseball fan, he rarely missed a game. He was a friend to many, human and animal alike, and loved to kid around, always with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. Above all he was kind. Despite his recent health challenges, he remained strong, cheerful, curious, and gracious. He was predeceased by his wife Beverly C. Davis of Claremont. Members of his family include his daughter Lynne Davis of Newport, his son David Davis and daughter-in-law Gosia Davis of Claremont, his stepdaughter Carlyne Hutchins, Claremont, his sister Phyllis Pavlik, Claremont, his brothers Henry Courtemanche, and Donald Courtemanche, grandchildren Mathew and Jacob Davis, Claremont, Julie LeBlanc and Barbie Makela, great grandchildren Lyndsey LeBlanc, Austin LeBlanc, Andrew LeBlanc, and Anna LeBlanc, many nieces, and nephews, and treasured close friends. In accordance with Lionel’s wishes, there will be no services.
