Injured Hiker Carried off Mount Kearsarge

Wilmot, NH – State and local emergency responders helped a hiker off Mount Kearsarge on Friday.

Larry Samberg, 71, of Southborough, MA, suffered non-life-threatening injuries Friday when he slipped on wet rocks as he descended the Barlow Trail.

State Conservation Officers were notified at 1:37 p.m., and rescue crews carried Samberg off the mountain, arriving at the trailhead at 3:57 p.m.

In addition to conservation officers, personnel from Wilmot, Sutton, Andover, New London and Warner fire departments, Wilmot Police, and New London Hospital EMS assisted with the carry out.

Samberg was taken by a family member to have his injury evaluated at a local hospital.
