Members of Windsor’s Old South Church (United Church of Christ), are hosting a Pop-Up Thrift Store on Fridays and Saturdays.

The shop at the church will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. Fridays and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

It opened on Alumni Weekend in Windsor on June 3 and will be open until the church’s annual rummage sale in October.

“We do this for the community. It’s a nice social time and we price the clothes so they are affordable,” said church member Hatsy McGraw of Hartland. “You can get bargains and enjoy talking to other people.”

The store offers clothing and accessories but no housewares, she said.

Money raised by the sales benefit the church’s outreach programs that are both local and national in scope.

In addition to helping the community, the congregation is also working to get the church listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Tom McGraw, who mans the cash box at the store, is in charge of the initiative to get the church on the register. The church was built in 1798, just 30 years after the congregation was founded in 1768.

The church is located at 146 Main Street in Windsor.
