Joan K. Coolidge CLAREMONT, NH -Joan K. Coolidge age 79 passed away June 22, 2023 at her home surrounded by family. She was born November 5, 1943, the daughter of Basil and Katherine (Burbee) Neale. She received her education at St. Mary School in Claremont, NH. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 36 years, Gary m. Coolidge Sr., her stepson, Gary M. Coolidge Jr., her sister, Elaine (Neale) Brewer and granddaughter, Christina (Thatcher) Cripps. Survived by her daughter, Denise Lontine and companion, Chris O’Bryant, her son, Micahel Lontine and wife Andrea Adario, and daughter-in-law, Barbara Spear, her sisters: Barbara Husack of Claremont, Mary Stephens & husband Richard Rau of South Carolina, Martha Maurer and husband Robert Maurer of West Lebanon, NH, and her granddaughters: Danielle Van Solkeme and husband, Zachary, Courtney Coolidge, and Julie Morse and her grandsons: Rory Ashe, Kyle Coolidge and fiance Erin Reale, James Adario. Also eleven great grandchildren: Kaylee, Christian, Melody, Ashley, Graycen, Scarlette, Savannah, Spencer, Weston, Paisley, Emma and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan worked for the City of Claremont for 23 years (1976-1999). She worked in the City Welfare Department and was City Welfare Director for fifteen of those years. She had a strong sense of responsibility for the community and tried to help anyone in need. She received numerous awards throughout her career from the State of NH, Sullivan County and the City of Claremont. She held positions on several Board of Directors over the years, was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal in 1999 and was honored by the Mayor and City Council when she retired with a Declaration of Joan Coolidge Day on February 10, 1999. Joan was very proud of her Irish heritage and became an Irish citizen through descent. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Graveside Committal Service will be held on August 19, 2023 at the Union Cemetery, Plains Rd, Claremont NH at 11:00AM. A Celebration of Life to immediately follow service at the Elks Club on Pleasant Street. Family suggests in lieu of flowers support the Claremont Soup Kitchen.
