LUDLOW, VT — The Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce, whose 12-town region has been hard hit by flooding, has added a Disaster Resources page to its Web site at www.YourPlaceinVermont.com.
“The critical focus right now is to gather all flood relief information and organize it in the most useful way for businesses and consumers. In addition, we are providing a way for people to help. There is a Tax Deductible Donation Button and a Volunteer Button on the Resources Page. We continue to gather updated community and business resources.” said Board President Gail Beardmore.
As part of its effort, the Chamber has also launched a community flood assessment survey.
“This Assessment Survey will help us to better know how you’re affected and what resources we should focus on for you.”
The survey is linked to the page.
The Chamber has also created the Okemo Valley Disaster Relief Fund for tax deductible donations. The Ludlow Rotary Club is serving as the fiscal agent. Contributions can be designated to a particular town in the region.
The site lists a variety of community, business and government resources, with links, to create a centralized source of information for those in need of assistance or those looking to help out. Included are cleanup efforts, home checks in flooded areas and other links to volunteer opportunities. Links to updated road closures, shelter and damage, power outages, water boil alerts, weather forecasts, river levels and VT Alerts.
The Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce is urging the public to support Chamber members to help them recover from the flood induced damage. The Disaster Resources page contains a number of online links that will facilitate on-line shopping for things like gift cards and certificates, DINE and local non-profits. It notes that chamber members offer a variety of helpful services, such as cleanup, excavation, financial planning, insurance, printing, temporary storage, transportation and more. Relevant links are also published on the site.
