CAVENDISH, VT — In the wake of the storms that have devastated areas of Cavendish, Fire Chief Rebecca Nareau told the Eagle Times that she has successfully coordinated an emergency air drop with the Vermont National Guard to provide crucial supplies to residents who have been cut off from the town due to severe flooding.
The air drop includes water, meals-ready-to-eat (MREs) and other essential provisions necessary for their immediate needs.
The effort ensured, “the necessary resources are being mobilized to address the immediate needs of the stranded residents.”
To further assist the town, Nareau has recruited volunteers from her station to help deliver Meals on Wheels via All-Terrain-Vehicles. Meals On Wheels is a program that provides nutritious meals to elderly and homebound individuals. With many roads still impassable due to the recent storms, the use of ATVs has proven instrumental in reaching those who would otherwise be cut off from vital food supplies.
