School Paraprofessional Accused of Sexual Assault of Student

By Eagle Times Staff
A school paraprofessional is facing felony sexual assault charges after a Lempster, NH, child went missing.

In June, the child was reported missing to New Hampshire State Police.

While the child was “safely” located, state police and detectives with the Newport Police Department continued their investigation, according to Newport Chief of Police Stephen Lee.

Isaiah Grenier is accused of “Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault, Felonious Sexual Assault and Sexual Assault for engaging in acts of sexual penetration and sexual contact with a child under the age of sixteen, when he was in a position of authority,” according to Lee. Grenier is also accused of two counts of Indecent Exposure and Certain Uses of Computers Prohibited related to his electronic communications with the juvenile.

Grenier was a paraprofessional at a private primary school that the child attended, Lee said.

Police did not say if he made contact with the alleged victim at the school.

Grenier was detained at the Sullivan County House of Corrections without bail pending arraignment in Sullivan Superior Court on Wednesday.

The Newport Police Department and New Hampshire State Police, Troop C, were assisted in the investigation by the Grafton County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crime Unit and the New Hampshire Department of Education.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Newport Police Detective Alexander R. Marvin at 603-863-3232 or [email protected].
