Carlton (Carl) Crane

Carlton (Carl) Crane VASSALBORO, ME -Carlton (Carl) Crane passed away at the Maine Veteran’s home, South Paris, ME on July 15, 2023. Born in Vassalboro, Maine, on August 21, 1929, to the late Lester and Edith Crane. Carl served in the Korean War while in the Army. Carl worked for over 20 years for the Gardiner Shoe Co. before moving to New Hampshire where he was a manager for the LeHigh Gas Co. From there he went on to the Holson Co. Claremont, NH until his retirement. Upon his return to Maine, Carl volunteered for the Meals-on-Wheels program in Augusta. Carl was the master of storytelling and a real jokester. He loved Sunday drives, anything outdoors and even a good book or a nice game of cribbage. His humor was a source of joy for all who knew him. Carl was predeceased by his wife, Cora and sons Daniel Crane and Bruce Martin, his brother Lester Crane, his sister, Frances Densmore, and grandsons Michael and Nicholas Blake. He is survived by his children Rudy Martin (Joyce), Jacqueline Martin, David Crane (Faith), Patricia Mitchell, Dale Crane (Kimberly), Mark Martin (Madeline), Deborah Blake (David), and Janice Brehio (Verne), daughter-in-law Carolyn Crane along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Carlton’s legacy will continue to shine brightly, illuminating the path for all who loved him. Celebrate Carl’s life by Sharing your memories, your stories, and your photos on his page.
