NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — In the wake of devastating floods that wreaked havoc on Vermont and New Hampshire in July, Ocean State Job Lot brought an 18-wheeler filled with personal protective equipment to nine towns in the flood-stricken region.

A special donation presentation took place on July 28 at the Rotary Club in Ludlow, Vt., one of the hardest hit communities. Representatives from Ocean State Job Lot and the Rotary Club who are working in tandem to facilitate the relief efforts, including Rotarian and Ocean State Associate Nancy Hampton Beeley, Rotary District Governor Angela Ponte, and Ludlow Rotary Club President Thomas Ray, were present at the event.

As residents grapple with the aftermath of the floods, Ocean State Job Lot said it aims to provide a ray of hope and support with these essential PPE donations.

“Ocean State Job Lot is proud to support its neighbors in the flood-affected communities of Vermont and New Hampshire during this period of recovery,” said Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation. Executive Director David Sarlitto. “Our heartfelt thoughts go out to those affected, and we hope that our contribution of PPE assists in safeguarding the health and well-being of the residents and frontline workers dealing with the aftermath of these recent natural disasters.”

Ocean State Job Lot continues to partner with several regional Rotary Clubs on a number of community distribution events for backpacks, coats and food.

Founded in 1977, Ocean State Job Lot is a growing, privately held discount retail chain with 152 stores in New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, approximately 5,600 employees and annual sales exceeding $800 million.

The Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation supports numerous causes, including feeding the hungry, helping the homeless, assisting veterans and military families, aiding animal rescue, caring for children, advancing healthcare, supporting the arts and promoting learning. The Foundation’s operational, administrative and overhead expenses are covered by Ocean State Job Lot, not the foundation, ensuring that 100% of every dollar raised through the foundation goes directly to helping those in need.
