Roland F. Durgin GOSHEN, NH -Roland Francis Durgin, 78, passed away on July 30, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Newport, NH June 6, 1945 to John and Lula (Boutwell) Durgin. He graduated from Towle High School, and married his wife, Christine, July 13, 1968. Roland, who was also known to others as Speedy and Odie, worked as a logger, sawmill worker, and lumber grader. He worked at J.D. Durgin and sons in Bennington, NH, and then Durgin and Crowell in Springfield, NH. He also served in the National Guard. He loved sports. For many years he golfed, played in men’s softball leagues, played horseshoes, and participated on bowling teams. His favorite teams were the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Roland was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Ronald Durgin. His surviving family includes his wife Christine (Johnson) Durgin; his son Anthony (Tony) Durgin and wife Lisa of Lemspter, NH, his son Ernest (EJ) Durgin and fiancée Heidi McAllister, both of Newport, NH, his grandchildren Mitchell, Shelby, and Alexis Durgin; his sister Beatrice Mountain and husband Archie of Newport, NH, his sister Joyce Desaulniers of Bennington, NH; his brother Arthur Durgin and wife Susan of Bushnell, FL, his brother Raymond Durgin and wife Nancy of FL, his brother Kenneth Durgin of Walpole, NH, his brother Bruce Durgin and wife Ruthann of Deerfield, NH, his brother Jeffrey Durgin and Maureen of Antrim, NH, his sister-in-law Pat Johnson of Pembroke, NH, and Annette Howard and husband Phillip of Lempster, NH. There will be no calling hours or service. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.
