New Hampshire State Police have confirmed a weekend drowning on Lake Sunapee.
At 3:52 p.m., Saturday, New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol received a call reporting a swimmer who went underwater near a raft and had not resurfaced on Lake Sunapee in Newbury, according to State Police Public Information Officer Amber Lagace.
Witnesses located the swimmer minutes later, pulled him from the water and began CPR until first responders took over. He was transported to New London Hospital where he was pronounced deceased later that evening.
The victim has been identified as Alexander Genthner, 23, of Allenstown, N.H.
