Concord, N.H. — Attorney General John Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke announced Thursday that Alexander Wheeler, 20, has plead guilty and been sentenced in the shooting death of Lee Knoetig, 53, on Aug. 5, in Nashua.

As part of a negotiated disposition, Wheeler, who was initially charged with alternative counts of second-degree murder, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and a count of falsifying physical evidence for discarding the pistol that he used to shoot and kill Knoetig, according to a statement from the Attorney General’s Office.

After the guilty pleas, Wheeler was sentenced pursuant to the deal and the Court imposed a stand-committed sentence of 15 to 30 years on the manslaughter charge and a consecutive sentence of 3 to 6 years on the falsifying evidence count.

As part of the sentence, Wheeler can petition for a suspension of two years of his sentence if he receives no major prison infractions in five years and can petition for suspension of two years of his sentence if he obtains an associate’s degree.
