CLAREMONT, N.H. — In his report to the Claremont City Council this week, City Manager Yoshi Manale said a mistake by the city’s tax assessment vendor caused incomplete and higher property values from the city’s re-evaluation to be released.
“The vendor is correcting the mistake and they apologize for causing any confusion to the public,” he said. “The city will send preliminary value letters to property owners, which will follow with informal hearings for anyone with questions or concerns. The dates of those hearings will be included in the notice of the preliminary values letter.”
The vendor is Vision.
He reminded the public that the state Department of Revenue Administration will establish the tax rate later this year.
“An increase in property value does not necessarily mean an increase in your tax bill,” Manale said. “Do not use the current tax rate to estimate your taxes. An increase in townwide value generally results in a decrease in the tax rate. If you want more information, visit the city website, www.claremontnh.com.”
