The Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission is seeking public comments on the Sullivan County Trails Plan.
Recognizing that trails provide recreational, environmental, health, and economic benefits to the region, the Sullivan County Board of Commissioners contracted with the Planning Commission to analyze, inventory and make recommendations about all trails within the county.
Using federal funds, the project collected data about all known trails in the county and reached out to trail maintenance groups. A public survey and forums were also conducted to gauge public perceptions and collect input.
Based on the findings of the survey and forums and combined with the data collection of trails in Sullivan County, the Planning Commission developed a framework of four categories based around coordination, construction, cooperation and creating opportunities for protecting the trail networks as important recreational, natural and economic assets for the county.
The report is available at http://www.sctrailsplan.com. To best ensure accurate information, community engagement and quality data, the Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission is accepting public comment via the form on the website through September 30.
