Bank Alerts Customers to Impersonator

Eagle Times Staff
CLAREMONT, N.H. — An extensive brand impersonation campaign is being conducted nationwide against banks and credit unions, including Claremont Savings Bank.

Targeted customers are receiving fraudulent text message asking them to verify an e-pay charge.

Expertly crafted fake emails (phishing), text messages (smishing) and websites trick recipients into clicking on fraudulent links and entering login credentials or other sensitive information by using copies of real business logos, images, and messaging styles. These messages can ask for a password reset or report a fraudulent charge, among other things.

Claremont Savings Bank was not involved in a data breach and customer information remains secure. Fraudsters can only access accounts if someone clicks on the link.

The bank advises residents to delete any suspicious text and call 603-542-7711, if someone receives a text message and clicks on the link. Monitor all accounts for suspicious activity.
