NEWPORT, N.H. — If you’ve ever been to a Newport Middle High School basketball or football game, the odds are you have heard superfan Jamie Reese screaming from the stands.

Reese, a 53-year-old Newport resident, has been an avid fan of Tiger high school sports since he moved to town from Hanover in 2013. He has never missed a home game for football as it’s his absolute favorite sport to cheer for. Unfortunately, due to lack of transportation, he can’t attend away games.

“I like football because I played football for Hanover High School, which gave me the passion that I have now,” said Reese, who went on to explain how it felt when students joined him in his chants. “It feels good because I get the kids going and the crowd going during the games. I want to inspire the next superfans to chant, ‘Go Tigers!’”

The Newport football home game against Somersworth is the game he’s most excited for this season.

“Somersworth is in for a big whopping this Friday,” Reese said. “We can beat them by passing on them.”

Reese also makes it to every home track meet and every home varsity softball game.

“He is such a huge superfan,” said Rachel Page, fellow Newport resident. “I think kids, as well as adults, will look forward to hearing him at the games.”

As Reese often chants at the end of the games during Newport victories: “Na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!”
