Claremont Initiates New Football Program for Youngsters

Eagle Times Staff
A Start Smart Football program, run by the Claremont Parks and Recreation Department, provides a foundation for young children and parents to learn football and have fun in the process.

The goal is to associate fun and football so children and parents pursue the sport at an older age. The goal of the department is to see children graduate from Start Smart and move on to the FLAG football and then to the Mini-Cards Tackle programs. The ultimate goal is to see them out on the varsity football field at Barnes Park competing for a state title.

Parks and Recreations officials thank Stevens High School Varsity Football Coach Josh Duford for stepping up and organizing the program for the community.
