MONTPELIER VT — Archery deer hunting season runs October 1 through November 10 and November 27 to December 15, and the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department says hunters look forward to the season.
Hunters can take up to four deer in Vermont’s two-part archery season if they do not shoot any deer in the other deer seasons, and purchasing an archery deer license and tag is required for each deer.
No more than one deer taken during archery season may be a legal buck if no buck is taken in other deer seasons. In 2023, Antlerless deer hunting is allowed during archery season.
Deer types C, D1, D2, E1, E2, G, I, L, M, P, and Q are legal bucks and include any deer with at least one antler three inches or more in length. Deer types A, B, F1, F2, H, J1, J2, K, N, and O are legal bucks, which are any deer with at least one antler with two or more antler points one inch in length or longer.
Hunters must have a standard hunting license to purchase add-on archery deer hunting licenses. Nonresidents may purchase a $75 “archery-only deer license.”
Licenses can be purchased quickly and easily at vtfishandwildlife.com.
Hunters planning a Vermont archery deer hunting can download the 2022 Deer Harvest Report at tinyurl.com/yufjfhsb, which has the number of deer taken in each town in last year’s deer hunting seasons.
