New Librarian Focused on Helping Youth

EAGLE TIMES STAFF
SPRINGFIELD, VT — Springfield Town Library is thrilled to announce the expected arrival of the new Youth Services Librarian on Monday, Sept. 11, after an extensive search for the best candidate. Jeni Busby Clary has more than seven years of progressively professional library experience.

Clary’s most recent position was Circulation Manager at Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro. Her responsibilities also included developing programs for adults. Clary previously worked in youth services and longed to return to her passion.

“Having to be outside my comfort zone has undoubtedly been good for me, but I am eager to get back to what I know best and what suits my natural abilities: sharing my excitement about new ideas and new knowledge with young people and looking for creative new ways to empower them to explore their world,” said Clary.

As part of the interview process, she presented a young adult program on stop-motion animation to members of the teen advisory group, who gave her the thumbs up. In her role in Brattleboro, she collaborated with the youth services librarian there and organized July’s “All Ages Paper Airplane Derby.”

“I’m percolating a lot of fun ideas for programs from birth to teens and can’t wait to meet everyone to find out which ones they’ll like best,” Clary said to the staff of Springfield Town Library. “And no one will be more excited than me at that first story time.

Any new position has a transition period. Clary will have her first four days to get acclimated to the library. The library staff will have a better opportunity to get to know her during a meeting on Friday. Clary will then be available to meet all visitors on Friday from 12 to 4 p.m.
