CLAREMONT, NH — The filing period for candidates in the upcoming Nov. 7 elections began Wednesday, Sept. 20, and prospective Councilors have until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, to file.
Any registered voter can file at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 58 Opera House Square, in Claremont. There is a $1 filing fee for mayor, assistant mayor and council seats.
Open seats include mayor, a two-year term; assistant mayor, a two-year term; and wards 1, 2, and 3, each two years. The city has four at-large city council seats open for two-year terms.
Claremont has one supervisor of the checklist, who maintains the names of all qualified voters from each ward, with each term lasting six years, and one supervisor of the checklist from Ward 3, which expires Dec. 31, 2025.
One moderator, who presides over town meetings, from each ward is open for two-year terms.
Claremont also needs one designated ward clerk who reconciles votes and assists in various capacities during an election for two-year terms.
As of Sept. 20, Andy O’Hearne filed for Ward 1, Michael Huse Jr. is running at large, Jonathan Stone is running in Ward 3, Bill Limoges is running at large, and John Giosi is running at large.
Election Day is Nov. 7.
