Fall Mountain Golf Season Continues Strong

WALPOLE, NH — The Fall Mountain Wildcats hosted their second match of the season on Thursday, Sept. 7, at Hooper Golf Course in Walpole earning bronze with 55 points.

The defending Division 4 state champions from Mascenic led the way with 91 points, Woodsville was second with 73 and Newport finished with 13.

Owen Tetu led the Wildcats with 18 points, Ledger Willet was next with 16, Porter Willett followed with 12 and Jon Grenier rounded out the scoring with 9. Perry Lent and Donnie Tucker also competed for Fall Mountain and earned 7 points each.

Josiah Hakala from Mascenic dominated the field with 32 points. Hakala shot a remarkable score of 5 under par for 9 holes. Tetu finished 7th overall for Fall Mountain, but he was only 2 points away from tying for 2nd.

Carter White led Newport with 8 points and Stephen Hebert added 5.

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, Fall Mountain hosted its third and final home match of the season. With the top five individual scorers, Conant scored 78 points and ran away with the top spot. In a tightly contested race for second, Fall Mountain scored 53 points to hold off Sunapee (48) and Monadnock (42).

The Willett brothers led the scoring for the Wildcats as Ledger and Porter each earned 15 points. Camden Fuller was next with 14, Jon Grenier followed with 9, Donnie Tucker had 8 and Bella Bowman added 4.

Alex Gallant led Sunapee with 16 points, Sam Gaudet was next with 14, Sawyer Willis had 10 and Eben Berube added 8.

Fall Mountain then teed off against Mascenic, Campbell and Sunapee on Friday, Sept. 15, at Newport Golf Course.

Mascenic moved to 20-0 on the season by leading the way with 81 points. In a close race for second, Campbell edged Fall Mountain, 60-56. Sunapee finished 4th with 34 points.

Ledger Willett continued his impressive first season for the Wildcats by finishing 4th overall with 22 points. He trailed only Josiah Hakala and Brad Shaw from Mascenic (5 points each) and DeClan Sullivan from Campbell (23).

Jon Grenier was next for Fall Mountain with 16, Porter Willet had 10 and Owen Tetu and Camden Fuller tied with 8. Perry Lent also competed for Fall Mountain and registered 4 points.

Sunapee had a relatively balanced attack led by Sawyer Willis (11), Sam Gaudet (9), Alex Gallant (8) and Morgan Summerton (6).

Fall Mountain is now 9-8 on the season and sits in 9th place in the Division 4 standings. The Wildcats next match was Thursday, Sept. 21 at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene against Monadnock and Hillsboro-Deering.
