SPRINGFIELD VT — Mike Jasinski and Parker Hill Cannabis are now one step closer to their first legal marijuana crop.
While Jasinski had previously received approval from the State of Vermont Cannabis Control Board for a Tier 1 mixed-use-cultivation license, he hadn’t won approval at the local level, a “convoluted” and likely “frustrating” process said Springfield Cannabis Control Board member Kristi Morris who made a motion to act on Jasinski’s request to grow up to 125 plants during the board’s Sept. 25 meeting.
With Vermont having only recently ended the prohibition on cannabis, Selectboard Chair Kristi Morris said it had been a bumpy process trying to find a streamlined way to ensure both Jasinski and the town were following proper protocol.
While the process may have been bumpy, Springfield Town Manager Jeff Mobus confirmed Jasinski had taken the proper steps.
As a tier one cultivator, Jasinski was asking for up to 125 plants under the 1,000 square feet of indoor canopy the state rules allow in Tier 1.
“At this point, everything has been done,” Mobus said.
Board member Michael Martone seconded Morris’ motion and there was no discussion or opposition from board members or residents.
The Cannabis Control Board unanimously approved Jasinski’s permit.
“I appreciate your help with this process,” Jasinski said.
