EPPING, NH — Sunapee (9-4) left Epping with a 5-1 win Wednesday, Oct. 11, that saw the Lakers spread out the scoring, control the pace of the game and left them with a lot of work to do.
Only a few weeks of the season remain for the Lakers to accomplish their goal of playing at home in the first round of the tournament.
“Who knows how it will all sort out, but we can help our cause by playing hard and together every game,” said Sunapee Head Coach Myles Cooney.
Clare Tuohy continues to push the play with 3 goals, and since Sunapee is beginning to use the outside more, they’re starting to see results, particularly in the last two games. Their effort resulted in assisted goals (Sophie Bourque with 2 assists) and goals from Olive Jennings and Sophie Bourque in the second half.
“I think we have figured out how to attack the net. In this next week and a half, we play some strong opponents,” Cooney said. “Can we figure out how to defend?”
That effort can certainly be bolstered by strong team play and continued strong goaltending from Annaliese Rowell. That is the task at hand as division leader Newmarket rolls into town Friday, Oct. 13, for Sunapee’s homecoming game at 6 p.m.
Results of the game were not available at deadline.
