Letter to the Editor: Claremont CARES

To the Editor:

My name is Lisa R. Gosselin and I have lived in Claremont for the last 41 years. My husband, James, and I have raised our two children in this wonderful community. They attended Claremont schools, successfully completed college and have established themselves as productive members of society. Some in this community would scoff at this and say, “Nothing good ever comes from Claremont!” Well, I am here to tell you that so much that comes from this community is positive! There are many stories of success coming from our school district over the years.

I have served as a school board member in this community, and now as a retired professional, I volunteer with Turning Points Network. In these capacities I have been able to witness the amount of giving that takes place in this community, especially at graduation and during the holidays. It is so awesome. However, the negativity about Claremont from people who live here is astonishing.

I’m hoping that is about to change.

Recently, I joined a non-partisan group of citizens of Claremont called Claremont CARES: Community Advocates for Responsible Engagement and Service. This group of residents is dedicated to a common vision for our community: To create a Claremont where honesty, transparency and community engagement are welcomed and practiced. We are committed to responsible governance, non-partisan and level-minded approaches to provide positive and thriving leadership for our city. Our unwavering mission is to enhance, not simply sustain our community. To learn more, visit ClaremontCARES.com.
