Community Made Moon Festival a Success

WINDSOR, VT — In his report to the Select Board Tuesday, Oct. 10, Town Manager Tom Marsh hoped everyone had a chance to stop downtown during the Autumn Moon Festival.

“We’re getting close to 20 years of doing this,” said Marsh, adding that a lot of good people came together. Riley White did a great job orchestrating the evening. “My impression was a lot of good town organizations were able to add to their coffers to do further good works within the town.”

He noted that people in the town took on the responsibility of coordinating the festival in 2023.

“Other than having money set aside to start the next year’s festival, all the money gets put back into the various organizations that participate or don’t participate,” Marsh said. “But the call goes back out to the community. It was a great night, and thanks to everybody who spent a little money. Thanks to a whole bunch of people who gave their Friday night and a whole bunch of people who put in hours prior to that to make it all happen.”

He said it was time to discuss the upcoming budget schedule and brought out an example based on prior years.

“None of it is written in stone; it’s how we’ve done it in the past,” he said. ‘We’re going to start reaching out to prior year budget committee members to see if those who have served under three years want to continue. If you want anything done differently in this process, I’ll be starting to work with department heads to formulate budgets for formulate our budgets for this year.”

Marsh plans to put out the survey it annually produces to look for trends.

“There are other things that are more timely, and questions you see on the survey doesn’t require a board voting, but I would certainly be interested in the majority of the board voting,” he said. “I don’t ask the board to vote on every question; there are some that come up, and I see what are the day-to-day running of the office.”

He called them visionary questions about what the town wants to be.

“Be thinking about that,” Marsh said.
