Fall Mountain and Bellows Falls Represented at Meet of Champions

Both Fall Mountain teams put forth strong efforts at the Meet of Champions with the girls placing 15th and the boys finishing 18th. Sophomore Jenna Fillion led the girls with a 27th place finish (19:27). She was followed by senior Kelly Ranta in 76th (20:57), sophomore Azure Rheaume (22:55), sophomore Cerys Gascoyne (23:01) and sophomore Abigayle Jarvis (23:21).
Fall Mountain

HUDSON, NH — The Fall Mountain boys and girls cross country running teams competed in the Meet of Champions race hosted by Alvirne High School on Saturday, Nov. 4. The race featured the top teams and individual runners from Division 1, 2 and 3 State Championships. Fall Mountain earned a spot in the Meet of Champions race after a 2nd place finish from the boys and a 5th place finish from the girls at the NHIAA Division 3 State Cross Country Championships.

Senior Ben Tetu paced the boys with a 45th place finish (16:34). He was followed by junior David Northcott in 76th place (17:20), senior Ben Fritshen in 81st place (17:23), junior Braydon Patch (19:46) and sophomore Edward Baker (21:32).

Oyster River won the girls team championship and Nashua South was victorious on the boys side. The top six teams and 25 individuals from the boys and girls races qualified for the 88th Annual New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 11, in Belfast, ME. Fillion missed qualifying for the prestigious meet by less than seven seconds.

Bellows Falls

ST. ALBANS, VT — Bellows Falls freshman Desi Broadley competed in the Meet of Champions at Hard’Ack Recreation Area in St. Albans on Saturday, Nov. 4. Broadley earned a spot in the race following her 7th place finish in the Vermont Division 3 State Cross Country Championships. Broadley raced against the best girls runners in Divisions 1, 2 and 3, and finished in 36th place (21:40). Broadley missed qualifying for the New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championships by just 17 seconds, despite spending most of the fall competing with the Terriers varsity soccer team.

The girls race was dominated by CVU who had five of the top eight finishers. CVU will be looking to win their seventh New England Championship since 2003 when they toe the line on Saturday, Nov. 11, in Belfast.
