WEATHERSFIELD, VT — In his report to the Select Board on Monday, Nov. 6, Town Manager Brandon Gulnick said the Town of Weathersfield has two new employees, and that means the highway department and transfer station are fully staffed.

“We welcome David Picknell to the transfer station,” said Gulnick. “David’s been a temporary employee over there, and he agreed to come on permanently.”

He noted that Evan McClure from the Town of Hartland was hired at the Highway Department.

“Since 2018, he’s been on the highway department [in Hartland], and we’re happy to welcome him to our highway department,” Gulnick said. “He’s a Perkinsville resident, so his commute will be much shorter. With a local highway worker, you’ll have a better response time when you’re in need of highway work during storms.”

Gulnick said the town has three completed projects, including the Upper Falls Covered Bridge.

“The propane tank has been buried and connected to the generator,” he said. “Brookfield will be here on Wednesday to start that up.”

The radar sign has also been installed in Perkinsville.

“We have four policies under review, including the personnel policy, purchasing policy, MMH policy and 1879 schoolhouse rules and regulations,” he said. “We have four upcoming holidays. Veteran’s Day, so the Town Office will be closed on Friday. Veteran’s Day is on Saturday, and the Transfer Station will be closed on Saturday.”

He reminded the town that Thanksgiving is coming up, and the Town Office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23.

“Christmas is coming, and it’s on a Monday this year, so we will be closed on Dec. 25,” he said. “New Year’s Day will fall on a Monday, which is cool because it’s the first day of the week.”
