Council canvases election results

CLAREMONT, NH — The City Council canvassed the Tuesday, Nov. 7, election results during a special meeting on Thursday, Nov. 9. Assistant Mayor Debra Matteau motioned to accept the canvass, seconded by Councilor Spencer Batchelder.

City Clerk Gwen Melcher gave the Council a copy of the election results and said Mayor Dale Girard had 1,310 votes.

“Asst. Mayor Debra Matteau had 776 and Brian Zutter had 740,” said Melcher. “At-Large Councilor Nicholas Koloski had 1,002, William Limoges had 956, Wayne Hemmingway, 797; Joel Trembley, 674; Kevin Tyson, 644; Michael Huse Jr. 326; Gary Savoie, 302; and John Woods-Giosi, 131.”

She said Ward I Councilor Andrew O’Hearne had 287 votes, Ward 2 Councilor Spencer Batchelder had 534 votes, Ward 3 Councilor Jonathan Hayden had 247 votes, and Jonathan Stone had 241 votes.

“Ward I Moderator Chad Myhre, 302; Ward 2 Moderator Allison St. Aubin, 531; Ward 3 Moderator William Blewitt Jr., 429; and Ward I Supervisor of the Checklist Jennifer Gallagher via write-in had 11 votes,” Melcher said. “Ward 2 Supervisor of the Checklist Eric Zengota via write-in had 19 votes, Ward 3 Supervisor of the Checklist Ann Richmond had 439 votes, and Ward 3 Supervisor of the Checklist Lynn Simino had 437 votes.”

Melcher said Ward 1 Ward Clerk David Roark had 331 votes, Ward 2 Ward Clerk Vicki Howard Raymond had 544 votes and Ward 3 Ward Clerk Elyse Crossman had 436 votes.

The total ballots cast were 1,575, and 6,230 voters were on the checklist. There were 42 same-day registrations, and 25 percent of voters cast their vote.
