Holiday Bazaar benefits Humane Society

SPRINGFIELD, VT — On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Springfield Humane Society hosted its 6th Annual Holiday Bazaar. Every year, items are donated by the community to raise funds for the animal shelter. The amount of people that attend varies but it’s estimated that around 100 people came out this year.

A great deal of donated goods yielded a lot of sales, and donated holiday-themed items included decorations, tableware, linens, lights, toys and more. The money raised provides funding for food, medication and microchips for the shelters in Andover, Baltimore, Cavendish, Chester, Grafton Londonderry, Ludlow, Springfield, Weathersfield, Weston, Windsor, as well as other towns.

“We appreciate their [donors] generosity and also the people that come here and pay extra for the items that they buy and give as a direct donation,” said Board Member and Volunteer Lisa Debartolomao. “We are very thankful for that, and 100 percent of everything we collect goes directly to the shelter to pay for operating costs and to pay for the animal’s care.”

The event is completely run by volunteers.

“It’s just such a great organization and I think everybody who volunteers or works here loves animals and really tries their best to make sure that humans and animals truly work together,” said Bevin Packman, a volunteer with the organization.

The Springfield Human Society is located in Springfield, VT. Their mission is dedicated to improving the quality of life for animals.
