SPRINGFIELD, VT — The Springfield School Board announced and unanimously approved the resignation of Union Street School K-5 teacher Nada Alasmi during its Monday, Nov. 6, meeting. Superintendent Sherri Nichols said Alasmi is leaving to take care of personal matters.

“What is the plan,” asked Board Member Jessica Burlew.

“The Board has an applicant that will be interviewed,” said Nichols.

The Board also accepted the resignation of Social Studies Teacher Patrick Mahoney from Springfield High School.

“This one is also for personal reasons, some childcare issues as well,” Nichols said. “We do have a plan we’ve been talking about with the social studies department to make sure we could absorb this as we find somebody.”

Chair Troy Palmer also announced that Director of Curriculum, Structure, and Assessment Missy Wilkins announced her retirement from the school district.

“We truly appreciate her years of service from Missy and all the contributions she has made to the Springfield School District,” Nichols said. “We have to put out a well-deserved retirement. She’s going to have more time to spend with her grandbaby.”
