Joseph Hayes Stagner Jr. CHARLESTOWN, NH -Joseph Hayes Stagner Jr. passed away peacefully while surrounded by his three children on Tuesday morning November 14th. Hayes was born in Brooklyn NY on November 10, 1941 and moved to Charlestown NH when he was 10 years old, where he met the love of his life, Sandra Morse. In his youth he enjoyed spending time at his grandfather’s horse farm and playing basketball. In 1960 he married Sandra and went on to have three children, Hayes III (Joe), Suzanne and Lisa. He was an alumnus of St. Anselm’s College. He was a banker and a business man, and especially enjoyed his time and the people he worked with at Connecticut River Bank and Bellows Falls Trust. When he was not wearing a business suit, he was in his favorite attire of farmer overalls and work boots. Aside from his family, his farm and his draft horses were his greatest joy. He logged with his horses, and forestry became a passion of his. He also loved to sail and play golf. He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra, his brother and sister in law Paul and Marilee’s Stagner, and his great grandson Bryden Stagner. He is survived by his three children, Joesph Hayes Stagner III, (Jill), Suzanne Stagner, Lisa Stagner (Heather Nelson). He is also survived by his beloved sister Davida Andrew, his grandchildren Felicia, Josh, Mia and Megan Stagner, Hannah, Emma and Ian MacDonald, and 6 great grandchildren. Calling hours will be Saturday November 18th, at 11-12am at Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home 55 Westminster St in Bellows Falls. Per his wishes, a celebration of life for Hayes and Sandra will take place at 12:00 noon at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon NH or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home 55 Westminster St in Bellows Falls, VT.
