LANGDON, NH — Nominees at Fall Mountain Regional High School have been chosen to represent their school at the upcoming Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) conference at St. Anselm’s College in June, and this year, they’re all sophomores.

HOBY is a national leadership program whose mission is to “inspire and develop the global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.”

Typically, the opportunity to attend HOBY is only awarded to juniors. The conference allows high schoolers to showcase their schools and participate in leadership activities.

Schools from each state are invited to select three students who were nominated by this faculty and staff at the school. Only 30 students were nominated at Fall Mountain High School, and three were chosen. Each student was selected based on how well they would represent the school.

The winners were Bridget Bascom, Azure Rheaume and Keegan O’Connor, and were chosen due to their leadership qualities and community service. The students explained that they chose to get involved in their community and their future careers reflect that they are passionate about helping people.

“I try to be the best person that I can be, and I try to push other people to be the best they can be. I try to do that through sports and later on in my own life,” said Keegan O’Connor.
