CLAREMONT, NH — Come usher in the New Year with snow-shoeing, tubing, swimming, bowling, kids’ activities, a sports show, a wildlife encounter, carriage rides, live music and fireworks, all included with the purchase of a $1 entry pin.

Organized by the Claremont Sugar River Rotary Club, the city of Claremont and supported by area businesses, Claremont’s First Night will be a celebration to remember.

Starting at 6 p.m., weather permitting, Arrowhead will be featuring outdoor fun with snow-shoeing and tubing on the slopes. New Year’s Eve fireworks will light up the skies at 10 p.m. Throughout the evening, carriage rides to and from the Claremont Savings Bank Community Center (CSBCC) and Arrowhead will complement the festivities.

Also at 6 pm, Clint Pecor will be performing live at the Claremont Opera House. Pecor is a twin states vocalist and musician known for acoustical rearrangements of classic rock songs.

The Claremont Savings Bank Community Center will also be setting the stage for a full evening of exciting activities. Commencing at 6 p.m., folks can enjoy open swim, a story walk, activities and games for the kids and an Impulse Pro Wrestling Show. A Wildlife Encounter will be presented in the Grand Meeting Room from 8 to 9 p.m.

Meyer Maple Lanes has been a Claremont go-to spot for thirty years. Located at 125 Maple Ave, they will be offering three sessions of bowling from 5 to 7 p.m., 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight.

At 8:15 p.m., Claremont native Jesse Hughes of Waiting Til Three will take to the Claremont Opera House stage for a second year in a row. Hughes’ EP “Try Again” is currently streaming with an anticipated title track premiering on January first. Hughes will be joined on drums by another Claremont native, Taylor Whipple.

“He was always the best drummer around, so I’m super stoked,” Hughes revealed in a Dec. 6 Facebook Live with the Eagle Times.

Claremont’s First Night has been made possible through the generosity of Mascoma Bank, Claremont Savings Bank, Bar Harbor Bank and Trust, Keady Family Practice, Healthy Connections, Century 21 Highview Realty and Marro Home Center.

Entry buttons are only a dollar each and are available at The Claremont Opera House, Golden Cross Ambulance, Maple Lanes, the CSBCC and Arrowhead.
