Colby D. Casey

Colby D. Casey CLAREMONT, NH -Colby D. Casey, a loving family man and dedicated Claremont Police Officer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care following a brief period of illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Terri, and their three sons; Adam, Andy and Joshua. Colby was born on January 24, 1966 in Bangor, Maine to Elaine and Thomas Casey. He dedicated his life to his family, friends, and the communities in which he served, and leaves a legacy of love, service, courage and commitment. Colby began his distinguished law enforcement career with the York County Maine Sheriff’s Office in 1987. In 1992, Colby began his service to the citizens of Claremont, where he worked for the next 31 years. During his tenure, Colby rose steadily through the ranks until his retirement in 2013, when he was the Captain in charge of the Detective Division. At the time of his passing, Colby was still working for Claremont PD as a part-time Detective and the Chief Recruitment Officer. Colby was among the most highly decorated police officers in Claremont PD history and made a lasting impact on everyone with whom he worked. Truly, he was a remarkable public servant and worked tirelessly to make Claremont a better place to live, work and play. As great of a police officer as Colby was, he was an even better family man; cherishing all of life’s precious moments with his soulmate, Terri, and their three sons; Adam, Andrew and Joshua, and their beloved grandson, Rocco. Beyond his nuclear family, Colby served as a source of strength and laughter to his five sisters and his entire extended family. Colby will forever be remembered as the life of any party. His infectious laughter, legendary stories, and wide-ranging sense of humor made him a welcomed guest at all manner of gatherings and events. Colby respected everyone, stepped-up when the times were the toughest, lifted the downtrodden, and brought joy to all those around him. These qualities, among so many others, are what allowed him to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Colby is survived by his loving wife, Terri, and their three sons; Adam, Andrew, and Joshua; one grandson, Rocco; five sisters; Colleen Magaw; Kerry and husband, Jim Garland; Candy Elsemore; Kelly Wyman; and Kate Druin and husband, John; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Colby is predeceased by his mother, Elaine “Mum” Casey, his father, Thomas Casey, stepfather, Robert Watson, and brother in-law, Tim Magaw. Calling hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont on Friday, January 5th from 3pm-6pm. A celebration of Colby’s life will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, or the Claremont Police Association. May our dear friend Colby D. Casey rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire all of us to leave our community better than we found it.
