Lorraine I. Perkins

Lorraine I. Perkins CLAREMONT, NH -Lorraine Inez Perkins, fondly known as “Mickey”, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on December 27th in Hartford, CT. She was born on July 5th, 1934 in Claremont, NH to Edward and Nettie Bushway and was the 3rd of 6 children. She married Donald L. Perkins on September 10th, 1955 and moved with her family to Connecticut in 1968. She graduated as a registered nurse at the Saint Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, MA and she worked as a nursing supervisor, and emergency managing supervisor at Springfield, VT and Claremont, NH hospitals. She retired from nursing and joined Travelers Insurance as a medical evaluator. After she retired a second time from Travelers, she evaluated medical claims at Aetna Insurance until her final retirement in 2005. She volunteered extensively with the North American Martyrs Parish Women’s Guild in East Hartford and the Wood Memorial Library in South Windsor. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic church in East Hartford. She enjoyed watching hockey, spending time on lakes Sunapee and Winnipesaukee with family and friends and attending plays and musicals. Like her late husband, she is generously donating her body to the UCONN Medical Center. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 65 years, and her daughter Mary Lou Lugo. She is survived by her son, Donald L. (Barbara) Perkins II of Concord, VA, 4 grandchildren; Gordon Perkins of South Windsor, CT, Barbara (Jordan) Knight of Andover, CT, Peter (Marissa) Lugo of Glastonbury, CT and Luie (Amie) Lugo of Wethersfield, CT, and 8 great-grandchildren; Dezaree Cruz, Colby Perkins, Molly Perkins, Madison Bassett, Peter Andrew Lugo, Allin Lugo, Codie Lugo and Haylie Lugo; as well as her brother, Edward D. (Annette) Bushway II of South Wales, NY, and several nieces and nephews. A mass of celebration of life will be held in the future and burial will follow later at Locust Ridge Cemetery in Brattleboro, VT.
