Stolen bicycle leads topetit larceny charge

On Nov. 19, the Bellows Falls Police Department received a report of a stolen bicycle from a residence. Officer Cenate was dispatched to investigate the report and after further investigation Jathniel Weiss, 34, was charged with petit larceny from a building. Weiss was issued a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court-Criminal Division on Tuesday, Jan. 9, to answer the charge.

Speeding, DUI drug charge

On Nov. 22, at approximately 11:05 p.m. a police officer with the Bellows Falls Police Department observed a vehicle exiting the village of Bellows Falls traveling at 51 miles per hour in a posted 35 mile per hour area. A traffic stop was then initiated on Route 5 for the speeding violation.

During the investigation of Odongo Makokha, 20, a strong odor of marijuana could be smelled from the driver’s side of the vehicle along with signs of impairment. These observations led officers to conduct a Driving Under the Influence investigation.

At the conclusion of the investigation Makokha was placed under arrest for the DUI Drug and transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for the purpose of processing.

At the completion of Processing Makokha was released to a sober adult at the Bellows Falls Police Department and issued a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court-Windham Criminal Division on Jan. 30 to answer the above charges.

Arrest made for criminal speeding and DUI

On Nov. 23, at approximately 10:57 p.m. Officer Raymond observed a vehicle traveling at 83 mph in a posted 50 mph zone. A traffic stop was then made on Summer Street for Criminal Speed. During the investigation of Officers Raymond and LaBelle, signs of impairment were also observed, and a DUI investigation was initiated. Dylan M. Clayton, 32, was placed under arrest for the above charges and transport-ed to the Bellows Falls Police Department for the purpose of processing, he was released to a sober adult at the Bellows Falls Police Department and was issued a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division on Dec. 5 to answer the above charges.

Driving under the influence

On Nov. 29, an officer was running stationary radar on Route 5 and observed a Blue Mitsubishi Outlander displaying Vermont registration HSP745 traveling in both lanes of traffic approaching the officer. Signs of impairment were observed, and a traffic stop was initiated.

During the traffic stop, Gabriel T. Buskey, 41, was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and transport-ed to the Bellows Falls Police Department for processing.

Buskey was then released at the Bellows Falls Police Department to a sober adult and issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on Dec. 12 to answer the above charges.

Report of public intoxication

On Nov. 29, the Bellows Falls Police Department was notified of a possible intoxicated male in-side the 7-Eleven gas station. Upon watching the suspected vehicle, Officer Raymond observed a male exit the running vehicle and stumbled to the point that the male fell to the ground.

Officers contacted the male who was identified as Yuri Bredbeck, 34, of Putney. An investigation was initiated and based on observations and statements from staff, Bredbeck was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. He was then transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for processing.

After being processed by the BFPD, Bredbeck was released to a sober adult and issued a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court-Windham Criminal Division on Dec. 19 to answer the DUI charge in Windham County Superior Court-Criminal Division.

Unlawful trespass

On Dec. 4, the Bellows Falls Police Department received a report of someone possibly breaking into a building. After further investigation Nicholas Batchelder, 39, was charged with unlawful trespass and was issued a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court-Criminal Division on Jan. 16, 2024, to answer the above charge.

Driving under the influence

On Dec. 8, Officer Raymond conducted a traffic stop on Atkinson Street near Lisias Deli. While speaking with the operator, signs of impairment were observed and a DUI investigation was initiated. At the conclusion of the Investigation, the operator, identified as Sandra Mitchell, 72, of Alstead, NH, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

Mitchell was transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for the purpose of processing.

At the completion of processing Mitchell was released to a sober adult and issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windham Criminal Division on Dec. 26 to answer the charge.
