Bridge repairs keep Westminster road closed

WESTMIINTER, VT — Vermont Route 121, as it passes beneath Interstate 91, is expected to remain closed until 3 p.m., Monday, Jan. 29.

The closure of Saxtons River Road is necessary as steel continues to be removed from the bridge deck above it and a pier cap is demolished near the roadway.

Work on the Interstate bridges over the Saxtons River, located between Exits 4 and 5, could be delayed by weather and unforeseen circumstances.

A detour follows Back Westminster Road, the I-91 Access Road and Route 5.

The work on the Interstate will completely remove and replace the bridge decks and substandard bridge and approach rails. In addition, deteriorated and loose concrete on the piers supporting the deck will be removed and repaired, according to the Vermont Agency of Transportation.
