CLAREMONT, NH — The city honored City Planner deForest Bearse with a special proclamation as she enters retirement at the end of January.

Mayor Dale Girard said Bearse joined the city staff in 2014 as the resource coordinator and was promoted to city planner.

“Among her responsibilities were staffing the planning board, the zoning board of adjustment, the conservation commission and the historic district commission,” said Girard. “deForest served the City of Claremont in distinguished fashion and will retire having given 10 years of service to the community. She has exemplified public service, work ethic and attention to detail in all she has done for the city.”

He said Bearse has been a great facilitator for citizens who serve on the boards.

“Her patience and thoroughness have served many of her colleagues well,” Girard said. “Her persis-tence and determination to make it happen is unparalleled, and deForest will be missed for her friendship, inspiration, generosity and support. She is truly one of a kind.”
