The Springfield, Vt., Senior Center believes that all senior members of the community can participate in the center activities. There is no membership fees.
The center is located at 139 Main Street in Springfield.
Activities
•Hand and Foot card games will be at 1 p.m., Feb. 16. Drop in Corn Hole/Shuffleboard will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday. Nickel Bingo will be at 1 p.m., Friday. The Knit Wits will meet at 1 p.m., Feb. 15.
•AARP Tax Aid will be starting on Monday. They will be here on Mondays, Tuesdays and half day on Thursdays. Appointments are needed.
• The center’s seniors are headed to the MGM Casino in Springfield, Mass., on Monday, April 15. The cost of the trip is $50. We base our price on 40 people, so if more people sign up you will receive money back. Deadline to sign up is March 29.
•At 1 p.m., Feb. 7, seniors will be making Valentines for the nursing homes and veterans in our area.
•At 1 p.m., Feb. 14, the center will have the Green Mountain Express Band playing for it.
•The Songsters are looking for more people who would like to join the group, they meet every Friday morning at 9 a.m.
• The center has its 60th Anniversary booklet for sale at the center for a $2 donation.
• With winter weather here, the Senior Center will follow the Springfield Schools for delays and closings. If school is delayed 2 hours the center will open at 10 a.m. If school is canceled the center will also be closed.
• The center is still collecting food items for the local food shelves.
• Appointments are needed for foot clinics. You can call the center to schedule one. The price is $25.
