To our readers:
Our apologies.
Over the past few days, many of our readers have not received their copies of the Eagle Times in a timely manner.
We apologize for this.
As we seek to improve the paper and make changes, mistakes sometimes happen. We hit a snag with our distribution.
The creation of the Eagle Times is the work of many hands. In the morning, writers like Chris Frost and Mary Carter create content. In the afternoons and into the evening, Katlyn Proctor and Sydney McAllister create digital pages which are then handed off to our printer to be turned into newspapers. After the press rolls, and while most of us sleep, those papers arrive at post offices around the region to be distributed to our readers.
As you can imagine, postmen and postwomen like to sleep just like you and me. This is where we hit our snag. As there isn’t anyone to sell you stamps in the middle of the night, we drop the Eagle Times at post offices around the Twin State Valley and then file paperwork — eerily like 1040 forms — telling the Post Office what we left at its doorsteps. On Tuesday, we learned we weren’t doing the paperwork quite right.
By Tuesday afternoon, the problem was resolved, and the papers were being handed over to carriers again for delivery. I want to thank all of you for your patience and personally apologize to those readers who didn’t get their paper promptly.
I’d also like to thank Deanna Kern at the Eagle Times and Jason Desjardins at the U.S. Postal Service for helping us get back on track and sorting through the confusion.
And, if you don’t want to wait for the postman, consider our electronic replica editions, available online before the sun rises each day. If you aren’t already receiving this complete electronic copy of our paper, email Deanna at [email protected] to have her set up an account for you. This is a free service for all our print subscribers and is also available at a discounted rate to any readers who are not interested in receiving a printed copy of the paper but still want to read the latest news each morning.
Our apologies, and thank you to all our readers for your patience,
Stephen Cheslik
