CLAREMONT, N.H. — Early Tuesday, Feb. 20, a parking lot fight stemming from a road rage incident led to assault charges while bystanders continued to pump gas.
At 1:09 p.m., police officers with the Claremont Police Department responded to reports of a confrontation between Jeremiah Schofield, age 20, and a 51-year-old male, at the Cumberland Farms on Pleasant Street. The incident caused a temporary shelter-in-place at nearby schools including Stevens High School.
After a brief physical altercation, Schofield drew his firearm and shot a single round in the direction of the man, missing him. No other injuries were reported.
As of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, no new details had been released about the case, although further arrests are expected. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Richard Bell at 603-542-7010 or the Claremont Police anonymous tip line at 603-542-7026.
