Barbara B. Fontaine CLAREMONT, NH –Barbara went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 12th, 2024, after a brief illness. Barbara (Barbie) was born November 22, 1940, to George and Elizabeth Fontaine in Windsor, VT. She lived and raised on a farm in Weathersfield, VT until the age of 12 and moved to Claremont, NH when her parents built a home on Winter St. She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and High School. After graduating in 1958, Barb joined the Air Force, where she was stationed in Texas and served as a WAC secretary. Upon completion, she became a novice in the Concord, NH Monastery and then attended the monastery in Roxbury, MA. She soon realized the Lord was calling her to become a nurse. She became an LPN and then became an RN. After that, at a later date, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science. Barb spent most of her working years at the Sullivan County Nursing Home in Unity, NH. Barb is the oldest of five children. She is survived by her brother Dennis (Lucy) Fontaine of Claremont, NH, John (Mary) Fontaine of Unity, Carol Fontaine of Claremont, and Paula Faucher (Jim) of Charlestown, NH. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Elizabeth Fontaine. Barb always loved cats and cared for many of them throughout her lifetime. Her latest kitty is Princess. She was known for asking people, “Are you saved?” She enjoyed giving Bibles and devotionals and telling people about Heaven. She was a member of the Springfield Assembly of God Church in Springfield, VT. Many thanks to the Doctors at Valley Regional Hospital for their excellent care and kindness to Barb and her family during her brief illness. In lieu of flowers, please make a gift to the Claremont Humane Society in her honor. Stringer Funeral and Crematory are in charge of the funeral arrangements. A burial will be at a later date at Ascutney Cemetery, Ascutney, VT, next to her parents.
