CLAREMONT, N.H. — A Friday evening accident involving a single motorcycle sent a 63-year-old man to the hospital after he sustained multiple serious injuries in the crash.
According to a release by the Claremont Fire Department on Aug. 2, Claremont Emergency Services was toned to a motorcycle accident on Hanover Street, also known as Route 120, at the intersection of Thrasher Road at 5:53 p.m.
Engine 3 arrived at 5:56 p.m. and found that there was a motorcycle off the road and operator was on the ground. Members of the fire department, Golden Cross Ambulance and Claremont Police Department assessed and treated the patient, who had sustained severe injuries.
Golden Cross Ambulance Owner Dale Girard said due to the multiple injuries sustained in the accident, the operator was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon. He could not go into the nature of the injuries. While a request for a medical helicopter was made, the area was experiencing bad weather and it was not available for transport. The patient was instead taken to DHMC by ambulance.
On Monday, the Claremont Fire Department did not have information about the cause of the accident. Claremont Police Captain Christopher Allen confirmed that the crash involved only the motorcycle. The accident is being investigated by the Claremont Police Department.
