Joseph R. LaPointe

CLAREMONT, NH –Joseph Ronald LaPointe, 95, of Clay Hill in Claremont, NH passed away on August 15, 2024 peacefully at his home.

He was born in Lawrence, MA on December 01, 1928 the son of Joseph A. and Maria (Pare) LaPointe and had resided in Claremont most of his life.

He was a graduate of St Mary’s High School in the Class of 1947 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Army.

Joseph retired in 1990 from the Joy Manufacturing Company here he worked as a machinist and in assembly for thirty and a half years and later worked for the Community Transportation Services for five years.

He was a communicant of St Mary’s Church, a member of St Mary’s School Alumni Association, Father Cote Council Knights of Columbus, the AARP and was a strong supporter and active member and Board Member of the Claremont Senior Center.

He also coached Little League for the Junior Sports League for four years.

The surviving family includes one son, Thomas Patrick LaPointe of Claremont; two brothers, Donald LaPointe and Michael LaPointe all of Claremont; one sister, Claire MacDonald of Claremont, also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Mahon) LaPointe whom he married on June 26, 1954; two brothers, Maurice LaPointe and Henry Lapointe; two sisters, Dorothy Weed and Marcella Obymako.

Thomas would like to thank Joss Savage and staff at the Barn Café. Dad always looked forward to his Saturday breakfast, especially the pancakes, french toast and chocolate mousse. A special thanks to Corrina Manseau, for her kindness, love and help with his care for 3 years. She was like family to my father and I, along with her husband, Greg and her sister, Joan Davies.

Thank you to his sister, Claire MacDonald, who visited him quite often. Bringing him food and his favorite pastries and for keeping him informed about his family members and relatives.

Thank you to his brother Mike, who visited and kept him up to date on family and friends. His partner Diane Butler, who always had his favorite soup, tomato rice and for checking in on him as she was a former hospice nurse.

Many thanks to the Lake Sunapee VNA/Hospice team, Rebecca LaCasse and the nurses and aides who have helped to care for dad. Along with Elizabeth Ganther who had her weekly visits as his social and spiritual worker.

Friends may call at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Wednesday, August 21st from 9:30-10:30AM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Mary’s Church in Claremont at 11AM. Interment will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery.
