CHARLESTOWN, NH –Ross Alan Macy, Age 69, of Charlestown, NH passed on Friday, August 9th after a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
Ross was Born August 31, 1954 during a hurricane in Amityville, New York to Marie and Edward Macy. Ross was the youngest of four children.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Lisa Decoteau, his step son Ethan Morin, wife Jessica, and two grandchildren, Landon and Abbigail, whom he cherished.
Ross is also survived by his sisters Wendy Stuart, Linda Macy, first wife, Linda Ittem-Rady, and many nieces and nephews.
Ross was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Harvey, his father, Edward Macy, his brother Glenn Macy and two half siblings, Edward Jr. and Elaine Guay.
Ross had a passion for photography. In particular he enjoyed photographing sunrises, birds, flowers, and anything that inspired beauty.
His memories of listening to his sister Linda play the guitar and singing folk songs with his siblings were often co-mingled with the family love of nature: particularly sailing, fishing and bird watching. Growing up Ross spent a lot of time on his family’s sailboat, the Reverie, fishing, sailing, and spending quality time together.
Ross will be forever remembered by his siblings as a special brother. He was caring, thoughtful, and determined to be there when he was needed. His strength of character and resilience, especially in recent times will forever be inspirational.
Ross and Lisa met in 1999 where her son, Ethan entered his life. Over the years Ross and Ethan secured a bond that was forged out of love and respect. Ross often spoke of the many fishing trips where Ethan would hook Ross’s line, or Ross’s person, instead of a fish. Whether fishing or teaching Ethan to drive- it was always done with the love of a parent.
Later in life Ross loved traveling with Lisa and his grandchildren Landon and Abbigail. Together they went on many adventures from Dollywood, Disney, Niagara Falls, Montreal and Maine, creating lifelong memories.
While Ross enjoyed many aspects of life, his true passion was teaching. He discovered his niche after exploring other career paths. Ross loved imparting knowledge and life skills to his students. A collection of crazy socks and ties, mixed with his mellow demeanor, created a calming force that changed the lives of many.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday August 21, 2024 at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, Main St, Charlestown, NH from 5-7pm.
In death Ross has been reunited with the many dogs that loved him throughout life. Donations in Ross’s memory can be made to your local humane society.
We find comfort in knowing Ross’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the passions he shared, and memories of his calm, funny and cheerful character will be cherished forever by all that knew him.
