LOUDON, NH – Catherine E. Potter, 82, passed away peacefully at her home with her grandson, John R. Hisel and her daughter, Tammy L. Hisel by her side on August 25th, 2024.
She was born on November 23, 1941, in Newport, NH to the late Edward & A. Marjorie (Hurd) Rossiter. Cathy was raised in Goshen, NH until moving to Newport, NH where she lived with her late husband Richard J. Thurston of 43 years. Cathy moved to Loudon, NH in 2019 and re-married to her late husband Floyd S. Potter Jr of 5 years.
Her pride and joy was her grandson, John Richard. She loved being a “Mimi”. She loved music and dancing, planting, and maintaining her flowers, but most of all relaxing by the pool in the sun. She was always a lover of all animals and would always tell people to “love all animals”.
In her younger years, you would find Cathy out to lunch to socialize with her sisters on any given day of the week. Cathy’s last employment was with the Sullivan County Commissioners Office in Newport, NH for 29 years.
Her surviving family members are her daughter Tammy L. Hisel and her husband John J. Hisel and their son, John R. Hisel. She also has 3 step-granddaughters and their families which includes several step-great grandchildren. Cathy has many nieces, nephews and one sister-in-law, Edith Rossiter.
She is pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters Betty Pierce, Charlotte Lessard, Robert Rossiter, Richard Rossiter, C. Madellyn McAlpine, Patricia Osgood, and their families. In lieu of flowers, Cathy requested to donate to an NH Humane Society of your choice. A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
