Cross-Country 

Newport  

Newport boys beat visiting Monadnock and Fall Mountain to open the cross-country season at a home meet at the Corbin Covered Bridge. 

Newport finishers: Bryce Palmer, fourth; John Wilkinson, fifth; Travis Avery, seventh; Michael Bohn, eighth; Lukas Pitta, ninth; and Bentley Waterman, 11th. 

Winners of boy’s race: Peyton Joslin of Monadnock in a time of 17:56. 

No girls team winner 

Top girl’s finisher: Jenna Fillion of Fall Mountain in a time of 20:13. 

Monadnock won the boys middle school meet. 

Top boy’s finisher: Jackson Ellis of Monadnock 

Newport finishers: Max Huot, second; Kellan Zullo, 10th; and Alex Couitt, 11th. 

No girls team winner 

Top girl’s finisher: Sadie Daugherty of Monadnock

Goals scored by Piper Vivian (7) assisted by Mackenzie Kleefisch (8). Hannah Tenney (1) and Grace Blanchard (21) also had goals.    

Tatum Flanagan had 2 saves. 

Girls Soccer

Newport goalie Skylar Nelson played well making 15 saves.

Audrina Pelton earned a shutout in goal.
