Fall Mountain defeats Stevens in Charity Cup

Fall Mountain 2, Stevens 1

The Wildcats took the lead through two first-half goals. First, Selah Fredrick finished from close range after a cross from Suzie Tiebout. Shortly after the opener, halfway through the first half, Aubrey Thomas doubled the Wildcats lead after an assist from a Mariella Tsitsonis corner kick. Stevens pulled a goal back just before halftime from Peyton Ferland.

In the second half, the tension was high, and the game swung back and forth, but in the end, resolute defending by the Wildcats saw them hold on to the win.

“Stevens is a great rival with great kids and coaching and to win this game we had to give everything,” Fall Mountain Head Coach George Tsitsonis said. “I’m so incredibly proud of the way our girls competed. They poured their heart and soul out on the field.”

The victory saw the Charity Cup go back to Fall Mountain for the first time since 2017. This year’s game was played in honor of Shriners Children’s Hospitals and funds raised benefitted that organization.

The victory moves Fall Mountain to 3-1 on the season. The Wildcats are next in action versus Inter-Lakes on Thursday at home at 6 p.m.
