Springfield PD arrests woman allegedly possessing crack

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — The Springfield Police Department has been working hard to curb the substance problem in the community, and they were able to get drugs off the street when a woman was recently arrested for possession of crack cocaine.

According to a release by the department, on Aug. 31 at 11:19 a.m., a Springfield Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Pleasant Street near the intersection of Valley Street for a violation. The operator and passenger in the vehicle were both known to be involved in narcotics use and sales, and the passenger was identified as Carrie Macie.

After an investigation, Macie’s backpack was seized pending a search warrant. On Sept. 7, the search of the backpack was conducted after the warrant was issued by a judge. The search resulted in finding crack cocaine and narcotics.

Macie was located and given a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Oct. 29 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charge of Possession of Crack Cocaine and Possession of Narcotics.
