CLAREMONT, NH– William Chapman, 79, passed away at home on September 23rd after a brief illness. Born June 26, 1945 to Lloyd and Theresa Chapman, Bill lived his entire life in the Claremont-Newport-Charlestown, NH area. After graduating from St. Mary High School in Claremont, he immediately joined the Army for 3 years. He was a proud Veteran.
Bill spent most of his career working at Sturm Ruger Company and retired in 2008 after 38 years of service with the company.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, going for long rides, travelling, and playing poker with his buddies! He also enjoyed watching western movies and shows and was always up for telling a good story! But his greatest passion was his family – family events, family occasions, and family visits. He loved that he could keep updated on his family’s lives through social media.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, his son Phillip Chapman, and daughter Denise Reiff. Also, his four granddaughters whom he just adored and was so proud of Jasmine Strout, Allyson Chapman, Katelyn Strout, and Kristina Chapman.
Bill is also survived by a brother Randall Chapman and sister Ann Chapman, as well as nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the Hope Hill Cemetery, North Charlestown, NH on Saturday, September 28th at 2pm. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow.
